WorkKeys Graphic Literacy Practice Questions
Updated October 31, 2026
ACT WorkKeys Graphic Literacy measures how well you read the graphics you meet at work: tables, schedules, forms, gauges, charts, dashboards, flow charts, maps and floor plans. The real test has 38 questions in 55 minutes with four choices each, and no calculator is allowed. The first few questions stand alone, and the rest come in sets of two or three questions about the same graphic or pair of graphics.
The 14 questions below are original, written for this page, on six workplace graphics that get harder as you go. Each graphic comes before its questions, just as it would on the test. This page is independent practice information and is not affiliated with ACT.

Tips for Graphic Literacy questions
- Read the title, headings and notes first. The note under a table often holds the rule the question turns on, such as a safe range or a cutoff.
- Check the exact wording of a rule. “Below 5” and “5 or less” lead to different answers.
- Use one graphic to find your place in another. Harder sets give you two graphics, and you look up a name or date in the first to use in the second.
- Look across rows and down columns for trends. Questions ask what is rising, falling or staying the same, and what a change might mean.
For more on how the questions get harder and how to read each type of graphic, see the Graphic Literacy tips.

WorkKeys Graphic Literacy practice questions
Questions 1 and 2 are single questions on Graphics 1 and 2. Questions 3 to 5 use Graphic 3, questions 6 to 8 use Graphic 4, questions 9 to 11 use Graphics 5A and 5B together, and questions 12 to 14 use Graphic 6.
-
You check the air compressor on Line A every hour. According to the compressor gauge log in Graphic 1, at which time was the pressure below the safe range?Answer: BThe safe range is 90 to 120 psi. The 11:00 a.m. reading of 86 psi is the only one under 90.
-
You work the receiving desk at Dock 3. According to the delivery schedule in Graphic 2, what time does the Tuesday delivery arrive?Answer: DThe Tuesday row shows Midstate Paper arriving at 10:00 a.m.
-
You process uniform orders for a cleaning company. According to the order form in Graphic 3, how many safety vests are on Order 5521?Answer: BThe Quantity column in the Safety vest row shows 2.
-
The customer on Order 5521 calls to change the order. Based on Graphic 3, which change would make the order lose its free shipping?Answer: DShipping is free on orders of $200 or more. Taking off the caps lowers the $224 subtotal by $30 to $194, which is under $200. Taking off the vests leaves exactly $200, which still ships free.
-
The customer on Order 5521 makes no changes but needs the uniforms within 5 business days. Based on Graphic 3, how much will be added to the $224 subtotal?Answer: CStandard delivery takes 7 to 10 business days, so the order needs rush delivery for $25. The subtotal is over $200, so shipping stays free, and only the $25 is added.
-
You manage stock at a paint store. According to the inventory in Graphic 4, which exterior satin color needs to be reordered?Answer: BExterior satin beige has 3 gallons on hand, which is below its reorder point of 5. White (22 against 15) and gray (7 against 5) are both above their reorder points.
-
According to Graphic 4, which product has the most quarts on hand?Answer: AIn the Quarts on hand column, interior flat white has 12, more than interior flat gray (10), exterior satin white (4) or exterior satin gray (0).
-
A customer buys 2 gallons of exterior satin gray. Based on Graphic 4, which statement is true after the sale?Answer: BTaking 2 from 7 leaves 5 gallons, which equals the reorder point of 5. The rule says to reorder when gallons fall below the reorder point, so 5 gallons does not trigger a reorder yet, and 5 is still more than the 3 gallons of beige.
-
You schedule the receiving crew. Using Graphics 5A and 5B, which shifts during the week of April 6 have no worker with a current forklift certification?Answer: COn Tuesday, Shaw's certification ran out on March 31 and Cole is not certified. On Friday, April 10, Grant's certification ran out the day before, on April 9, and Cole is not certified. Grant is still current on Wednesday, April 8.
-
Based on Graphic 5A, how many workers in the department hold a current forklift certification on Monday, April 6?Answer: CRuiz (June 30), Patel (December 31) and Grant (April 9) are current on April 6. Shaw expired March 31, and Cole is not certified.
-
Using Graphics 5A and 5B, which worker could be added to the Friday shift so that it meets the rule?Answer: ARuiz's certification is good through June 30, so it covers April 10. Shaw's certification ended on March 31, so adding Shaw would not meet the rule.
-
You are the lead on Line 2. According to Graphic 6, during which hour did the line first make fewer units than its hourly target?Answer: DThe target is 40 units an hour. The line made 40, 44 and 46 in the first three hours, then 38 from 9:00 to 10:00, its first hour under 40.
-
Based on Graphic 6, which statement describes Line 2 after 9:00 a.m.?Answer: AFrom 9:00 on, units made went 38, 35, 32, falling each hour, and units rejected went 6, 8, 9, rising each hour.
-
Based on Graphic 6 and its note, what should you check first to bring Line 2 back on target?Answer: DOutput dropped and rejects climbed starting in the first hour after the switch to the new die, so the die change is the most likely cause to check. The early hours were on or above target and do not explain the drop.
